The Mexican botanist Pablo la Llave gave the linaloe its name in 1834. This word in Nahuatl literally means “flowery copal”, referring to its fine and delicate appearance. Its berries and wood produce an essential oil widely used in the perfume industry. It is used in aromatherapy to relax the mind and to treat respiratory allergies and calm sneezing. Softens and rejuvenates the skin. Its aphrodisiac properties are also famous.
