About:
Due to its fragrant lemon floral scent, Citronella got its name from the French word meaning "Lemon Balm".  Citronella oil is obtained from the leaves and stems of different species of Cymbopogon (lemongrass). The grasses of Citronella can be typically found in some Asian countries and some islands of the South Pacific.  Citronella is one of the few plants that is considered easy to cultivate and needs little care. Plus it does not require fertilizers and pesticides which is how it was discovered as a valued insect repellent.  It works by masking scents that are attractive to insects. Thus, insects find it difficult to locate their target to feed. 

Today Citronella oil is used as an insect repellent, although research has also indicated it also has cleansing properties that may help with wound healing. Those same cleansing and invigorating qualities make Citronella Oil an ideal ingredient in natural room sprays and diffuser blends.
